I wrote this song for one of my first CDs, “Django Forever,” dedicated to one of my guitar heroes, Django Reinhardt. As you might imagine, both the song and the CD pay tribute to Django.

This lesson includes a freely solo guitar intro, the basic theme, basic- and intermediate solos. Soloing in a ballad style presents unique challenges, as it requires you to focus on telling a story with your guitar playing. In the basic solo lesson, we’ll concentrate on a melodic approach, emphasizing expressive phrasing. In the intermediate section, we’ll focus on refining right-hand technique to add depth and nuance to your playing.

Additionally, this lesson includes isolated tracks from my session with Daniel Stelter, who added beautiful colors and fresh inspiration to the song with his soloing.
Have fun watching and learning this wonderful tune!

Update 2024: We’ve added a track featuring Daniel Stelter and an intermediate solo section.
