Joscho’s Bossa

In this lesson we will dive into the world of bossa nova with Joscho's Bossa, an original piece I composed for the Transatlantic Guitar Trio featuring Richard Smith and Rory Hoffmann. We begin by focusing on the rhythm guitar, which is divided into two distinct rhythmic patterns: picking and a strumming gypsy bossa. Throughout the lesson, you'll learn how to switch seamlessly between these two styles to create a moving rhythms performance. You'll also be introduced to the melody based on the Transatlantic Guitar Trio video recorded at the Academy. The B part, for example, features Richard Smith's original transcription to give you a feel for his style.
